As a reminder, here is the before of our pantry.

After stenciling, I wanted to replace the shelf hardware to better match our cabinet pulls. BTW, Amazon has a great selection for cabinet pulls (and they are so much cheaper than we were finding at the home improvement stores for matte black finishes). These are our pulls (Cabinet Handle – Black). We love them. Straight and clean.

Anyway…these shelves are your basic 12 inch deep white wood shelves from any home improvement store. Before I put the shelves back up on the wall, I cleaned them and applied a shelf protector. With all the food spills and sliding of things on and off the shelf, I figured it would be a good idea to keep them nice and clean. I used this kind (Clear Covering). It was not very hard to put on and I love how easy it is to clean.

I wanted my brackets to be a flat black to match the pulls and they needed to support my 12” shelves. Also, I wanted the wall side and the shelf side to be long so that they would cover up the old holes. I went with these. They came with the matching black screws to mount to the wall and to the shelf.

Then, I was able to hit the same studs that the original brackets were in. Using the same bottom hole covered all the other holes that didn’t line up with the new brackets (A+ for not having to patch any wall holes).

Then, I called in my husband to help me lift these giant shelves, screwed the brackets to the shelves and boom…..here is are the mounted shelves. It is a small change but I feel like it makes a giant difference. Agreed?

On to phase 3.
